Platform Integration Engineer
Remote (US-Based)
About the Role
We are looking for an engineer to own the integrations that make our design generation available everywhere outside our own app. You will build the MCP servers that expose our models and agents to other AI systems and the plugins that bring Vyb directly into tools like Figma, Canva, and Chrome, working closely with the backend team that owns our core API. You will also work directly with our flagship clients to build the features they need, shaping them into improvements for every customer. Your focus will be on building durable, well-designed external surfaces that developers, partners, and AI agents can rely on, and that keep working as both our models and the platforms around them evolve.
Our Core Engineering Philosophy: We highly value simple solutions to complex problems. We do not build architecture astronauts or over-engineered abstractions. We want very clean, minimal code that is exceptionally easy to reason about, maintain, and debug. If you take pride in strong code hygiene, thoughtful interface design, and stripping away complexity rather than adding it, you will fit right in.
What You Will Do
Build MCP Servers for Our Models & Agents: Expose our generation models and multi-step design agents to other AI systems through MCP. You will handle what makes wrapping an agent harder than wrapping a function: multi-step tool calls, partial failures, long-running operations, and state across calls.
Ship Plugins Across Design & Browser Platforms: Build and maintain plugins and extensions for Figma, Canva, Chrome, and the platforms that follow. Each runs in a constrained, sandboxed runtime (Figma's split between main thread and UI iframe, Chrome MV3 service workers, strict CSP), and you will build reliable clients that work within those constraints as thin, clean consumers of our API.
Own Integrations End to End: Evaluate which integrations are worth building, ship them, and own them through platform review, release, and ongoing maintenance as third-party APIs change underneath us. Partner with the backend team to shape the API around what integrations actually need.
Build for Flagship Clients: Work directly with our most important early clients to build the features and integrations they need to make Coco part of their workflow. Scope the smallest solution that unblocks them, ship it fast, and design it so it generalizes into the product rather than living as a one-off for a single customer.
Make the Platform Observable & Debuggable: Instrument every external surface with structured logging, metrics, and tracing so that when a partner or client reports a failure, you can find the cause in minutes.
Enforce Code Hygiene & Reliability: Write comprehensive unit, integration, and contract tests as a natural part of your development workflow. Keep the codebase modular, well-documented, and trivial to debug when production edge cases arise.
What We Look For
CS Fundamentals: A degree in Computer Science or equivalent depth in data structures, systems, networking, and concurrency. You reason about problems from first principles rather than by pattern-matching to frameworks.
3–5 Years Building Production Software: You have built and operated real software used by external customers, ideally at a scaling or mid-sized tech company, and have dealt with the failure modes that only show up in production.
Backend & Client Range: Strong hands-on experience with Python (FastAPI and asyncio preferred) on the server, and TypeScript for clients. You are comfortable moving between an MCP server, a Figma plugin, and a browser extension in the same week. You have hands-on experience with OAuth and securely handling user tokens.
Obsession with Simplicity & Testing: A proven track record of turning messy integration problems into clean, readable code with clear boundaries and tests that catch breakage before partners do.
Bonus: You have shipped a Figma plugin, Canva app, or browser extension; built an MCP server; or worked on a developer platform with external users.
Work Authorization: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas (e.g., H-1B) at this time.
